1954 La Carrera Panamericana

Woodguy's post reminded me of this, my favorite vintage racing. Where else can you see sports cars and big American sedans competeing, all out, together? The film was taken by the pit crew (red Ford pickup) for the Olds powered T-Bucket hot rod (#11).
1954 was the last (original) Panamericana.

Good video. Some quick snippits of racing legend Ak Miller's roadster. And the Ferraris and Porsches.
The American iron did well due to the robust construction of those big sleds. To finish first, first you
have to finish. Those European " flackos" just could not handle the rough roads.
