A couple-three years ago I was walking on 34th street in NYC and came around the corner to see this very car sitting in Macy*s window!

Incredible - actually still incredible after two years.

They had a few very important indy cars littered around the first floor of the store as well!

Too bad no one has offered this car in scale - I would love to build one for the oval.

Before I opened the thread, I just knew it was gonna be Smokey's wild take on the IndyCar of it's day!
Betcha our fearless leader and Smokey super fan Harry nailed that in a second, too!

The Brazilian ace has still got his three Indy 500 rings to comfort him - so not a bad career already, right?

While I must admit that is an interesting car, it has to be one of the most dangerous positions to place a driver that I've ever seen. There is zero driver side impact protection. Any side impact would result in severe injuries at the least, death more likely.

For cars of that era, there was no such thing as a safer place for the driver. At least this one didn't put him between two thin-walled metal fuel tanks. So, in a side impact, he'd be crushed instead of crushed and burned alive.

Oh yes the famous Smokey Side Car indy Ride. Two things that made it an obvious Smokey car was the weird style and the Black and Gold Color. Somebody must already have had the #13.
