Hey guys,

It started today when my wife got me out of the house today to go grocery shopping with her to get some fresh air since my surgery and to get out and about.

So we get to Marc's which is a grocery store here in the Cleveland area.

I go straight to the toy area being the 46 year old child that I am.

I have been looking for a hot wheels or match box ambulance and tow truck for my Ho slot track for scenery.

So I find these below:

The ambulance will be perfect for my small Ho track as scenery but what about the cool Gasser '37 Ford you say?

It took me back to the days of my late teens/early 20s.

Lets go back in time to the late '80s.

A friend and I were building 1:1 street rods at the time and I came across an old '60s gasser '37 Ford coupe in a corn field in Southern Ohio. It had been sitting for years. Not sure the race team who ran it but I was told when I purchased it that it was raced with a 392 Hemi,4 gear and it had a '57 Pontiac rear end with 4:56 gears and race master cheater slicks. I purchased the car and it was fairly complete roller less the engine and tranny. It had rootbeer colored fiberglass front fenders but the rest of the car was in primer. I messed around with the car for a year or so then ended up selling it. Again wish I still had it!

Fast forward and this neat little Hot wheels '37 Ford coupe is now what will probably kick off my next new collection obsession in cool hot wheels......

It is just the gear head in me for liking everything car related!

Now if I can find a snake/mongoose hot wheels drag set I will be very happy!

Just sharing more of my memories from years gone by....

I too collect hot wheels. They just don't go on my track as my 1/32 slot cars will dwarf them lol

I have one of those gassers as well, but it is purple and the package says 2008 First Editions. I am not a collector, but these things are hard to resist at 99 cents! I also have a 2003 issue 079 "Midnight Otto" coach, I will try to get someone to do a resin pop of that one.

I don't know who the designers are of hot wheels nowadays but someone has an eye for cool street rods and rat rods!

I love these things and the price is right too!!!!

I'm all about everything car related.....

Cool deal, man -- I've been like "borrowing" parts off Hot Wheels and similar small die cast cars
for my customized Aurora T-Jet and A/FX HO racers for years, as have many other HO guys.
Have you seen the "SNAKE and MONGOOSE" movie yet? There was lots of original footage was used,
instead of trying to re-create the old races.
It's available on DVD for less than 15 bucks at the usual outlets like Amazon and other online retailers.
I scored myself a copy (before they were all gone!) at one of the big retail outlets here for a mere $9.95!
My friends and I enjoyed it over a few "cold ones".
Best wishes for a full and healthy recovery from "the knife". -- Ernie :>)
