Thanks to this site fueling my recent interest in slot cars, I've discovered the Fairmont Motor Race.
I grew up just outside of Philly and as a kid my father took the family to Langhorne, Reading, Trenton and Flemington among other tracks.
Suprisingly I had never heard of this short lived race.
Now I've got to do some homework and see what parts are available in 1/32 for 1908 to 1911 time period.

Thanks Harry,
I saw that too. Going to order the book. There is a series of books that cover old logging railroads in PA. I like taking the books in the car and locating the photo locations. Many of the sites are now state property. Kind of like a little side hobby.
I haven't been to Fairmont Park for probably close to twenty years, but I do remember some neat natural stone formations that would make great scenery.
I'm going to have to print the circuit map and head to the city when I get a day off. See if I can locate any photo locations. The building along River Drive would make a nice building flat on a back drop. The book cover scene would make a great front straight.

More research of the Fairmont Motor Race using Google Earth and the course map show that this would make a VERY interesting layout.
The course looks to have traveled over two circles, passed by several statues, and under a tunnel.
The building in the photo Harry posted is a water plant. It would be located just before the tunnel. The image with the water plant looks to have been actually taken from atop the tunnel.

Well today I found out that the Kelly Drive Tunnel is on the wrong side of the river. The photo of the water plant in Harry's previous post was taken from a railroad bridge. That's OK. There is a stone arch RR bridge further along the course and possibly a concrete arch bridge.
