We stuffed a turkey at 6:00 AM
She went back to sleep.
I stared at three pies: pecan, pumpkin, and apple
Fought the temptation to eat said pies.
Ate peanut butter on whole grain bread.
Stared at pies - fought temptation
Went to work shop
Thought about pies
When will the temptation be over?

That's art. Nobody makes those "high and mighty" apple pies anymore. That's exactly what it should look like. And I see you make your own pie pastry. That's yet another reason to like you! You should consider making a post in our slot car cooking section.
I'm always curious about pie pastries. There are all kinds out there- all wonderful, of course. But there is so much variety- very flaky ones that don't absorb much of the juice, and crusts that are not cooked when filled that soak up so much flavor they are almost indistinguishable from the filling, and everything in between.
I'm sure it crossed Dan's mind that the trouble with pies is that you can't sneak a taste without leaving a telltale scar. Cakes are easy to steal icing from, but a pie will tell on you.

High Noon. Coals are ready for action.
Started the morning with blueberry biscuits. These berry thingies aren't bad in a biscuit bathed in butter.
Nice pie. That's how you finish the day :)

Thanks - everytime I make a pie it comes out different - good, and different. I understand what you mean about the crusts - my last pie had the bottom of the crust indistinguishable from the filling and everyone loved it. Lately, I have been using butter. I have an old Stella Standards Cookbook of my Mum's. Back in the day, if I wanted dessert, I had to make it myself. I never stopped it seems. I also have a lemon meringue pie I make regularly; always a crowd pleaser. I'll check out the recipe section, I forgot about that.

Good for you!
I'll be ready around 4:30, I think. I've been in and out of the kitchen so much, I forgot to eat all day. I'm going gobble like a madman.

More pie, this time lemon meringue...my fave.
Like I said, if I wanted dessert, I had to learn to make it myself. Can't wait for dinner to be over!
