Anyone know of any online articles to read about dead strip installation and wiring them. I'll be using braid if that makes a difference and I'm the type that likes illustrations.

On the track diagram pictured above, with the positive rail as shown, if you put a RTR car on that top lane facing left, would it go forward or backwards? I wired my oval for counter-clockwise racing, and my road course for clockwise racing, but don't know which rail is positive on them.
I'm assuming all RTR cars are built to go in the same direction on all racing sets. If not, are at least all the major brand cars (Scalextric, Pioneer, Carrera, Ninco) wired the same?
Thanks.

Most RTR cars are wired the same. On the diagram above, the cars would travel from left to right, or counter-clockwise for an oval. That is the diagram for my oval.

With 1/32nd and 1/24th tracks the standard is for the positive rail to be on the right looking in the direction of travel. A regular RTR car, or any car that is wired correctly would go forward if it was pointed to the left of the diagram. There are a number of issues with dead strips, the first is that it can be dangerous to connect regular dead strips directly to a computer's port, another issue is that dead strips only work properly in one direction. Here is an updated version of the article that was linked to above:
