Lynne, question for you about the grass made from the sisal.
When you color it with the acrylic paints, I imagine it is to be like a dye, so what consisteny should the mix be. Very watery or more creamy ?
I am thinking watery, but I dont know so can you help?
Thanks
Bob

Watery to milky. You want it to absorb into the fibres rather than just coating them.

ImageGot a pretty slick way to add outer catch wall and or trim for your table. Lowes had some of their composite wood flooring on clearance, they always have some that they are no longer carrying or is out of production. These boards are about 1/4" thick and tongue and groove on the ends as well as the sides. If you pre-cut the panels to fit your area then glue on a boarder sheet or paint them, they can be put up panel at a time locking the joints, and making a nice removable back drop and car catcher!

I finally have some shots of my track and the quonset hut I had wanted to show in the past. You can't get any cheaper than this unless somebody pays you to take something.

The hut is what seems like plasticized cardboard. (I don't know how else to say it). They use it to make election signs, real property signs etc and in my case they also use it as packing for flat screen TV's. I was given two 4x6 sheets at my local Best Buy that had come from flat screen TV's. You can also buy it in white at any place like office depot, staples etc. The surround around the windows and the door are coffee stir sticks. The circular fans on top are bottle tops from a plastic coke bottle. The only actual cost involved in this was the hot glue to put it all together and the little bit of brown and umber paint that was used for aging. If you notice, the same plasticized cardboard is used for the grey crash barrier in front of the hut and the blue wall on the high bank turn above and behind the hut.

There are several different brands for the corrugated plastic sheet. Coreflute is one of the common ones here. It's available in various thicknesses from 2mm to 10mm. The thicker stuff is a PitA to cut, but patience is rewarded. I originally used it for my track borders with pebble printed vinyl applied. It still makes up the bulk of my track borders, but they've been painted to blend in.

Thanks guys and gals for the comments.

In 1:1 racing in SCCA in California we run on a number of old airfields which have these Quonset huts on them. This one is modeled after a Quonset hut on Fox Field in Lancaster, CA. It is still in use there, but Holtville, Camarillo and Santa Barbara all have them as well.
