Now that is just slick. I have no idea where I am going to put it, but going to get one anyway!

Thanks Dave.

Looks good Dave.

I've got a few similar kits that I bought ages ago. Two different welding styles and a flickering fire. Still haven't come up with somewhere to use them.

Shotgun Dave, would you kindly share your technique for weathering signs? I've seen many how-tos on weathering buildings and vehicles, but I'm not sure how well those would work on paper signs. Any tips would be much appreciated!

And yes, I've ordered a welder and a campfire for my layout . . . you should get a commission!

Thanks in advance,

Thank you for the tips on sign weathering, Dave! I figured that using a wash would cause the ink to run, but your dry brush technique solves that problem. I think I'm gonna make some grotty old signs for my track!

Best regards,

That would be terrific, Dave! And while you're at it . . . maybe some tips on weathering structures like your Quonset hut? I've looked at model railroading books, magazines, and online articles on weathering, and frankly it's all a bit overwhelming for an artistically challenged slot car racer -- washes, tints, pastels, chalks, dry brushes, etc.. I'm looking for a way to get 80 percent of the results with 10 percent of the effort -- in other words, I'd like a semi-respectable, semi-realistic track, but I'd rather spend limited hobby time working on slot cars than scenery. So whatever you can pass along on your techniques would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Rick V.
