My new track - no more question marks

New Track 2015.gif
Finally (finally, finally!) have a place to set up a track. It was semi setup about 8 years ago but came down as fast as it went up. Now, life stability! Anyway, it will be a mix of Strombecker, Revell and Riggen track (it's what I have and what I've put together over the last 15 or so years with stuff from when I was a kid). HRW got me excited about ovals and I almost went that route but as a kid it was all Lolas, Cheetahs and Chaparrals so a road course it is. I think there may be room for a 4x8 oval in our winter home though.
Here it is - anybody see any issues?

No issues except it's not built yet :)
Good plan. Glad to see yet another track come to life.
Off Season? I think not.

Seriously, what kind of nut would use old Strombecker track for a road course?
oh well, great layout design!
(kidding of course, I have WAY to much Strommie track)

Thinking about a variable power supply now. Mine puts out 13.8 volts and wondering if 10 or 11v might be better especially for non-magnet cars through the "S" after the inner curve. Of course none of my cars are setup in any way, just pulling them out of the boxes after 5 or 10 years of being packed away. The magnet Mono Chaparrals put a big smile on my face though!

It would be more fun in my opinion, to run lesser voltage. I use one of the variable Ebay units set at 10 volts. most all my cars work well at that voltage, and most really run better. at least smoother with better throttle control. You would not be disappointed in spending the less than fifty bucks for Variable.
That is a nice layout! looks like It flows well, F1 cars would love that I bet.
Will you be doing the scenery routine?

That's what I'm thinking too.

Do you think the 5 amp one would be okay? The 13.8v I have now is 10amp. It's probably going to be just me running and mostly RTRs and low rpm motors like H&R Hawk or Cobra.

Sports Car Racing for me. Chaparrals, Cobras, Lolas, Ford GTs! That's what I loved as a kid and same now as a 60 year old kid.

Yep! I still have my stuff from the 60's and excited to put it out again.

Vince, that power supply would be great. With two lanes and those motors you would not need any more amps than that.
My SIL and I run pretty hard sometimes on my track, and never see more than 2 amp draw with the bigger motors. if you run no or low magnet, there is little amp draw with RTR cars from what I have experienced.
cant wait to see the scenery stuff! I have mostly vintage scenery on my track as well.
looking forward to see your layout come together.

More scenery work still to do but, for now, I just want to play! The painted road surface looked different in my mind than in reality. Oh well. I'm happy.
