That really looks like it is intended for slot car benches, doesn't it?

Low quality shouldn't be a big deal for us unless you really force the tool. I've been using "cheaper quality" tools on my slots for years with no problem. But when you horse em they break! The only "quality" tools I use are the tiny allen screw type of nut driver's. Even they brake if you horse em! May have to give this set a look see! Only problem is the ONLY Lowes is on the other side of the island!!!!!

Well, I bought one. You can never have enough roto tools. Thanks for the tip. Didn't read the paper this weekend.

I've been using 'budget priced' rotary tools for a long, long time. I finally was given a brand new Dremel rotary tool as a gift one year. It stopped working after only a short time. But my 'budget priced' tool is still working.
One thing I would strongly caution all of you about, please use the Dremel "EZ-Lock" cutting discs and mandrel. The 'budget priced' cut off discs will come apart at high speeds during use.
Above all else, WEAR THE MINIMUM OF SAFETY GLASSES AND A FACE SHIELD TO PROTECT YOURSELF!
Okay, go ahead David and post a photo of you using a rotary tool wearing the minimum! I double dog dare ya'!

EZ-Lock is great. Hate the other style for the reason you mentioned.

I will second this - I bought a Harbor Freight rotary tool specifically for my slot cars and while it works great for this purpose the accessories are somewhat suspect. The sanding drums are (I discovered...) backed with what looks like electrical tape, and disintegrate very rapidly even at low speeds which is not what my branded Craftsman and Dremel drums do. And wow does it slap when the end of the strip hits your finger!

I like the fiberglass reinforced disks most. They simply will not shatter.

You guys are lucky to have it available at your Lowe's down there.
I checked Lowe's up here in Canada, and it's not even in their inventory.
I was able to find it in the Lowe's USA site though.
Maybe when I hit Pa in late Feb they may have one left.
Otherwise it will be back to the dremmel . I have had good luck in the last with some of the bargain
Brands but there is a difference in quality. I can overlook that for $24.99.
