DeBary Glen's 2 Hour Enduro - April 26th, 2014

Well this sure is not a 24 hour race like was held out in Michigan. Most of us are old guys and quite frankly need our beauty sleep. Some more than others.

However if you would like to race in a race that provides probably the best method of learning a track, then on Saturday evening, April 26th, there will be a 2 hour Enduro at DeBary Glen Raceways.

The event will feature Scalextric GT cars run on a Scalextric Sport Track that is 64 feet in length. It is a fast track and you should be running right at 5.0 second laps.

Rules are simple - it MUST be a Scalextric GT car and with the exception of the rear tires, it must be stock. You can run Super Tires on the rear of the car - we have found they work the best on the track's surface.

DeBary Glen will be open from 4 PM until the conclusion of the race. We intend to start the race at 7:00 PM or as close to that time as possible. You can come down, set up your pit area, get some testing and tuning in and be ready to race. If you do not own a Scalextric GT car, I'm sure if you call ModlerBob at (386) 215-9135 and work out a deal with him on a loaner car for the event.

Cost is $10.00 per team. There will be cold drinks available to purchase at the race.

Sure do hope to see some new faces come and race with us.

:auto-driving: This was a very intense race. It amazed me that there were so few de-slots compared to how many 66ft laps that was run. You have some very good racers down there in DeBary, Florida.
:twocents-mytwocents: I believe these 1/32nd racers are the perfect slot cars for this endurance type racing. You can run them for hours and they still perform very well.

I'll have to see if I can't get some pics and details the next time we run one at Mark's Model World!
Our format is similar to yours, except since there is eight lanes, so it is 15 minutes per lane verses 30.
The first two segments are in full lighting, the third with half the lights off, the forth and fifth are run basically in the dark (the corner marshals all get issued flashlights!), the six starts the lights back to half with the last two segments in full light. Racing in the dark ads a WHOLE new dimension to the racing! :D
Our enduro's are also all run with Scalextric cars and are done either with the "classic" class cars (Ferrari 330P4, Chaparral, GT-40, etc) or the modern class cars (Ford GT, Viper, Vette, etc). Similar to your experiences, we have had the same good solid performance with little in the way of mechanical issue using the Scalextric cars. :)
Would LOVE to try a four hour event (or some day the 24 hour event up in Michigan!)

Guys - thanks so much for posting this! I'm so glad to see you guys are still at it! That track is simply fantastic! I'm still dreaming about getting a wireless controller like Bob's now that I've gotten to try it out. Excellent report!

When everyone first arrived at DeBary Glen, there were three Ford GT racers all with the Gulf livery. For just a moment, we all thought that it would be a hoot to run all identical cars for the race. Fortunately we regained our senses and choose different cars. If one more Gulf Ford GT had shown up… or maybe if there was a pre-race keg party… we just might have run all four lanes for two hours with four identical slot cars. I can only imagine the chaos that could have happened in that small southern town on that warm Saturday night. :violence-stickwhack: Helicopters, news crews, S.W.A.T. and probably Geraldo Rivera :scared-eek: would have all been involved in that fray. :o
