We have been slowly evolving a system regarding how we score races and I thought I would share it and the results of the last race night.

Points are as follows-
1st =20
2nd =18
3rd =16
4th =12
5th = 10
6th =8

We run Carrera digital with dual power supplies so 6- 1/24 cars with stock magnets run Ok. It bogs down a little but not too bad.

If you record the fastest lap you get an extra 3 points, and if you run the entire race without de-slotting you get an extra 5 points.

At the start of the race we each get 3 poker chips. if you come off you yell "track" and the race is paused while you are put back on. You have to give up a poker chip. Once you run out of poker chips you are placed back on just past the lap counter, in effect costing you a lap penalty for wrecking too much. Once you lose a lap you get your chips back. It kind of works out that every 4th wreck you lose a lap.

If someone causes a wreck they can volunteer to throw a chip in for you. Like if someone switched lanes and throws you off or something. It is on the honor system because we do not want to have an argument every wreck about who was at fault. That happens in real life- not slot car racing!

We keep a total of points scored and usually run 40 lap heats. The average of the points is figured out, since some guys arrive late and others leave early. We had 8 racers last time so we took turns setting out. Most guys ran 6 races.

The final tally was -
1st place had 18.1 points per race
2nd had 16.8
3rd had 16.5
4th had 16.25
5th had 15.8
6th had 14.5
7th had 11.8
8th had 11.3

The points were pretty close between 2-5th place.

Here is a line up for one of the heats-

And here is my not so promising debut of my Corvette scratch build. Things went a bit awry. :oops:
