I started to age the track & yellow line. Here's the way I did it.
First I used a mixture of black & asphalt colored acrylic craft paint & using an 1/8" wide brush I gave the bright yellow line a thin coat of the paint. Quickly, before it dried, I gave the fresh paint a swipe with my finger & removed about 75% of it. This thin coat really took down the brightness of the yellow & made it blend in better & not look so freshly painted.
Next, using the same brush & paint, I dabbed a few areas of the line to make it seem as if the paint had completely flaked off or had been poorly painted in some spots.
I masked off the rails & slot using 1/2" tape & then misted the track, first with primer gray spray paint, and then with flat tan spray paint. The trick is to keep the can moving & don't over do it.
Finally I painted on some cracks and patching, again, using the acrylic craft paints. It doesn't too much like plastic track anymore IMO. Questions, comments?
