Hi all,
Just signed up today after stumbling onto the site. I am mid order on a tire razor which led me here for some more info. Then I started reading some of Harry's build and review articles. All I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you! Great info, just what I needed, we just started running the revell stockers on my new super speedway and we love the cars, but they do need a bit of attention.
Let me see if I can post a picture of my track...

Thanks for the site and all the info!

Yah, I read rich d's faq on posting pics, created a photo bucket account, and added a few pics to my post, all in less than an hour! A new computer record for me! That's like making a 1000 laps without a deslot!

Ditto. Welcome.
I like your taste :) Nothing says a fun track when it has cup holders like that.
Great shots too. Looks like a great track. I take it it is a combo?

Ya, it is a combo. I did flippers this time around to select road course or oval. We do like to drink and drive!

The back straight is 16' and the overall track is 23' from each end. The room is 13x24 and it actually is longer than that but it narrows up at the banked corner end and didn't make sense to try and go further cause it would not be in view and cut off that end of the basement.
It is indeed fun! Anyone in the area is welcome to come race with us! We have loaner cars but if you have a Carrera D132 NASCAR you belong here!
Oh, one more thing... Maybe my hint tip for the slot car world, and I stole it from one of the local group. All those tires stacked around the track are not tires, they are heater hose. One of the guys did all the cutting from a bunch of old heater hose he had laying around. Everybody loves it when a crash sends "tires" flying all over the room!

Welcome JimD. I like the 2 in one idea on your track, oval or road corse. I'm all so from Iowa. Just drive north to Mason City and turn left. I race with 2 clubs down buy North Liberty and Swisher Iowa. IMAR [1/32 scale ready to runs] and ERASR [1/32 scratch built]. Both clubs meet once a month. Yah... it's a long drive, but else is a boat mechanic going to do all winter. I have some pics on the old HRW site, Don't know if you can reach them, but here is the link anyway.

DHansen,
You don't have a group up that way? I suppose anybody up that way who is a gear head rides snow mobiles this time of year?
You are very welcome to come to Des Moines and run with us! We are very informal! We have a fairly wide range of experience and track time and patience so it makes it hard to even run an actual race. We always just end up running as a pack or as near as possible. Me and the one or two other good drivers holds up a bit and we make it work.
I have everything to count laps and such but it always makes everybody drive like crap, and it becomes a crash fest!

Great looking track and an unusual choice in rumble strip colors, but I like it. Man that ovals gotta be a hoot to run.
Welcome aboard.
