Winter has been too long
Posted: Thu Mar 06, 2014 8:08 amI haven't been able to use my Carrera track in my shop for months. It's too cold, and my blast heater stopped working. To get my slot car fix I dug out my old Cartronics track. I've set up a small layout in a corner of the rec-room. It's surprising how much fun this little track is. The Cartronics corners are a really tight radius, so I can fit a good amount of track on a fairly small table. The table itself is two interior doors bolted together. To inlay the track I set it up on cardboard and traced it. I then cut the cardboard away from where the track sits. I covered the whole thing with an old green sheet, then set the track back up. The gravel traps are copied from pictures I found on the internet and printed on card-stock paper and glued down. They're still a work in progress. I might keep this track together even when I can finally start to use my shop again.
