Great time had by all. Congrats to team Grizzly nice run. It was really nice getting to see you guys again. Thanks to Butch for hosting the event. Can't wait till we do it again. Thanks to Matt for posting this for me.

Actually, team Grizzly used another brand, but honestly, that was not the deciding factor in the race as the track owner was able to put down equally as fast laps with a Quick Slicks shoed car.

It was a great race and since it was an inaugural race there was hiccups but I think the everyone learned from them and the next event will be better. After all, Butch and company had less then a week to get a new lap counter up and running since the old one blew up so that was an accomplishement in itself AND they had to deal with Rob hounding them all week :lol: Great race weekend, nice to see everyone again from my team and to pick up a slot car again since I haven't touched one since the 24hr race. Both the QS and cloverleaf teams really picked up the pace at the end.

What an awesome way to spend a summer weekend, we loaded up the car Saturday morning and drove down to the Herman Finklemeyer Memorial Race Park. While the results for our team weren't the best, I can tell you Butch and staff did a great job hosting. The Finklemeyer race park is second to none, it has everything you could ask for plus... Congrats to both Cincy teams on their performance.

It was GREAT having you guys from Michigan down to our neck of the woods. Rob glad you survived the orange barrel nightmare on the way down :laughing-rolling: :lol: . I want to thank Matt for posting this thread as well! Thank you! It was great meeting and racing with you (Matt) as well! It is always great racing with you all from CloverLeaf and looking forward to making this an annual race (speaking for Butch and us all from Cincy Slots). Butch is a great host and it was great hosting the great friends we have made in the Mich. 24 the past few years!

We knew we would probably hold an advantage in this first race as this is our home track. We have many hours/laps on this track preparing cars for the Michigan 24 and Butch has many more than that. We knew if we could keep our cars together we would be good. Did you notice we had a 6 hour race as that time is with-in the timeframe our cars can hold it together in the Michigan 24 :lol: . Butch's team (Grixzzly's) ran a mosler based on the car we had in Michigan this past year but improved and the car the Cincy Slot team ran was sort of a fluke. It was the exact same car we finished with in 2013 Michgan 24 hour race. The only thing I did was grab it off the shelf where it sat since that race put some Quick Slick tires on it and Bam it was our best car! Must be the tires! :dance: The race was great and as the race wore on it was clear the CloverLeaf teams were figuring out the track as lap counts started to equalize in each heat past half way. We know that next year we will no longer hold an advantage and they will be coming with better cars just as we come with to their track every year better prepared.

Ok Race fans this is REAL race report! :angry-tappingfoot:
First, we had to drive in at least 100 miles of construction. 55 MPR seeing nothing but orange barrels! Then 4 gas stations and no one sells the cigarette brand that I smoke! :angry-tappingfoot:
We finally make to Butch's place, to find out the track we should have ran on was in the other room not even put together. He had a nice spread of food for us :mrgreen: but since we ran 3 man teams,there was no time to eat! With that being said no breaks meant, No smoking. :doh: Mike & I need that fresh nicotine air! The only air was a$$ gas from the beans Butch served! :D . I asked to have Pepsi on hand,Butch had 12. So I had to ration.mean while there was plenty of that Red & white Ohio st. color soft drink! We had to marshal and pit, sitting on these hard wooden stools. I think I have Hemorrhoids!!! :o .it was 95 degrees with 100% humidity. The track had 2 yellow lanes. They said 1 was orange, on the monitor, it recorded under red. The NEW timing system counted 2 laps for the Cincy teams & 1 for Michigan teams! :naughty:
Now how can any team race under these conditions!!! (all set up by the OHIO boys)

No really, nice track, nice place,GREAT host,GREAT race,GREAT food, GREAT time,but mostly GREAT friends!!! So I put out the challenge to Butch. Next year we race a 6 hr race at his place and 6 hr race at the Cloverleaf store, and combined the laps together. Thanks Butch & the Cincy boys.

I would just like to thank everyone who competed in the first Herman P. Finklemeyer Memorial 6 hour endurance race. I was really worried that something would go wrong with either the track, the lap counter, the air conditioning or the guys from Michigan wouldn't be able to find their way to my place. :D :lol:

Rob, Mike and I had been talking smack for a few days but it was all in fun. The Michigan guys are all first class and a joy to be around. I'm really looking forward to the next race in Michigan where we will give them race lesson number 2. :D :banana-dance:

In all seriousness, all of us Cincinnati guys know we have made some great friends in Michigan and are looking forward to the next race. They have really helped us up our game and are always willing to share any little secrets they find out. If slot racing had more people like them it would still be as popular as it was in the 60's. :text-bravo:
