New Slot.it Orange end bell motor

Postby Rleog » Wed Mar 09, 2016 7:26 pm

It's advertised as 23,000 rpm and 170 g-cm torque.

Maurizio had this to say about it:

"Except for the endbell, now moulded in one single piece vs the previous two pieces unit, the motor is exactly the same as before. Same magnets, case, winding, armature, carbons.
It must be considered that the previous orange-ish endbell motor was wrongly specified at 21.5K, whereas it was 23K instead. "

"The improvement should be a more uniform production, not a change in performance, so I think the old orange endbells V12/3 and the new V12/4 should be allowed to race together.
We've made several tests and there is no significant performance change."

"The Skoal Bandit car will still have the V12/3 motor, the Camel 962 the new one."

Thanks for the news. I pull all of mine for our smaller track, but I bet many racers will welcome the change/improvement.

Hmmm, so now that we know the rating is 7% higher than previously thought, does that mean our laptimes will decrease by 7%...

I have tached many orange-end bell motors. 21,687-22,389 was were most my results were. Piranha 21,228-24,500.
8 yr old yellow end bell last year tached low 26,220 high 27,689. I've got a new Slot.it car on the setup block now I didn't put a tach on it yet. May do later today.

I see the latest response is that Slot it have stated the new motor and last issue orangeish endbell should indeed be the same.
Funny thing is that the original 21.5 was adecent motor, and still is . Then the orangeish endbell was introduced also as a 21.5, and it was a bit better, but still not outof range. I suspect that it will be a similar find with the new one, andnonly testing on track will tell. Like Harry, I found for my small track a quick change to 15k motors made my cars all more competitive with each other and more enjoyable to drive on my track. Certainly when club racing I go with the stock motor, just so the extra power is available for the straights and acceleration. Of course my drivi g style seems to have dramatically changed on my 60th birthday, a couple of years back now..
