While waiting for parts in the mail for on my other builds, I've jumped on this Ranchero body that I cast before AMT re-released the original kit.



Retro Racer's slammed version was cool, so I'm going that way. My 55 Chevy re-built chassis turned out well, so I put together a similar one. Again, the Professor Motor motor bracket's fluted bottom edges were uneven, so out came the file. All's even and flat now.

I've got one of these also on the back burner. I'll be watching this one with full attention. Your builds are always extra good in detailing.

I'm planning a twin set, a Falcon Ranchero and an El Camino, but they are a ways off yet. Watching this one.

Mounted the body and got a good stance. Works for me.

Side pans are next. Going with .063 brass but need to cut 1/2" strip down to 3/8".



Modified resin inserts made from Revell's 55 Chevy kits wheels.



Fit them into the 15" Avant Slot fronts and 17" Slot It rear rims.



Thinking of a white finish with red rims like the 1:1 Ranchero currently listed on Bring A Trailer.

Got some taller profile and narrower PG tires.





No more imminent chassis dragging and the slammed look is retained.

Helps that Paul's a local phone call and only a 15 minute drive.

What did you use for Body Mounts ?

For body mounting, I like to use flanged and knurled brass screw inserts mounted into Evergreen styrene tubing epoxied to the body.



My small to medium cars use 2-56 flanged and knurled brass screw inserts and Evergreen 3/16" styrene round tubing, part no. 226 fitted with 2-56 or 2mm screws.



My larger builds use 4-40 flanged and knurled brass screw inserts and Evergreen 7/32" styrene round tubing, part no. 227 with 4-40 screws.



Lately I've been going with a single post at the rear rather than two. I think I get a bit more adjustment range of body rocking but you've got to be careful with tire rubbing on the body.



Works for me.
