Was thinking of an O2 entry for the Trans Am proxy and decided my used SCX Barracuda, purchased from a fellow club member, would be a good candidate.



The body was already beat up so I didn't feel it was too precious to use. The chassis's from my recent Lola T160 build that I thought was too heavy and eventually replaced.





The guide and mid section pans were cut from an old guide pan and I think the motor mount's an offset RGEO one.

Equipped it with a Ninco NC2 motor, Slot It gears/wheels/front tires, PG rear tires and a Sloting Plus guide.

Drives well but we'll see how it's affected with the body mounted.

The stock interior tray`s shallow but now enough to clear the big boxer motor, so a bit of dremeling was needed. Fortunately, the driver figure, dash and rollcage were barely touched to make way.





Got the side pans nicely flush with the body's sills.



Stance is good.



Still handles well.

Changing to Minilite wheel inserts painted white and we`re done.

Trimmed, painted and mounted the resin inserts cast from modified SCX Barracuda originals.

Hadn't run a Ninco NC2 boxer motor in a long time and was reminded of the linear feel for good driveability.

Mighty fine, mighty fine. Looks like the TA Proxy will have a nice group of fine looking cars. I better get started on my group. I was looking at my #48 Cuda. Wasn't sure if I'll leave it a plastic chassis or not. My soldering skills leave a lot to be deserved. Need to buy a new iron or torch anyway if I go down that path.

Nice, those big profile rears make the look all the more real.

I'm quite pleased with the rear wheel/tire look.



The choice of a taller PG tire was partially out of necessity. The offset motor mount had lower profile tires very close to dragging the chassis on the track surface.

Well the necessity added something positive to the overall look.

It is a pity there are not some taller profile tires made in rubber(?)

Stance is fantastic on this one!!
