I have really enjoyed giving these old bodies a new lease on life - it will be great seeing them turning laps at all sorts of venues - verses sitting tucked away, unused in a box! :D

Mc, could the body panel from the 722 Merc be cut into that? I would bet a graft would be possible.

That's an idea. There is a mounting post just forward and a bit outboard of the cockpit (about under the rear left corner of the hood) that is angled enough from the damage that such a graft would involve work that these old eyes would doubtless mangle.

A replacement body has been located and should be arriving soon.

Thanks for the idea, though. Down the road it might get used because ultimately it would be nice to have the entire 3 car Mercedes stable from 1955.

Thank guys! I am really happy with how they are turning out considering the broken, dirt, scuffed beginnings!

With the simple chassis designs, and relatively high center of gravity, I doubt they will be the quickest cars in the field... But based on the photos of the other entries that are arriving - it looks like they will have some great looking cars to chase! :D

That #71 looks great, Todd. Way better than the original every looked!

I hope it shines at its track test tomorrow because Team Chaparral is in need of some quick rides, if we're going to be able to fend off the challenges from the larger (and better financed) teams..............
