Are you certain the problem with the rears was the wheel? It sounds like you have a bent axle. By compensating for it, the fronts would not be on the ground at the same time as each other.

Did you glue the bushings in yet?

Hate to say it, but maybe time for a full breakdown...and set the chassis on true surface and see if you have a tweak (bent chassis).

An often times overlooked thing is to have the motor in place before gluing the bushings.

Also, if you need to remove the motor later on for any reason, always remove the rear axle before pulling the motor.
