Fly chassis clearance?

Postby btaylor » Thu Dec 18, 2014 12:01 pm

This may not be the right place to ask this, but here goes.
Is there a track out there, plastic or otherwise, that cant handle the chassis height of a Fly LMP or DP car?.
The ones i have are extremely low,but they make it around my tracks ok, even in a drift. but it seems that they might have issues with some rail heights if they are very pronounced.Anyone have any problems with this?
Thanks
Bob

We ran ours on Carrera, Scaley Sport, Scaley Classic, and Revell-Riggens, and it never came up, even though some of the cars had been lowered a bit.

They are fine except for banking/overpass tracks.

On older Scalextric and SCX some of them come close. Original Vipers had a low mag pocket and would catch on the rail joints.

I have noticed on some that since the chassis are so thin and light, with the magnet in full downforce position, the chassis will flex and snap onto the track.

Thank you, I have only ran them on Artin and Strombecker, both ran well.
My reason for asking,is I am using a stretched fly DP chassis under my Hudson for the Pan Am.I have swapped the tires and wheels for CB steelies, and i am running PG tires on the rear with a lot more height than the Low profile LMP tires. But it still is VERY low!. With a rotund body like the Hudson has, i need to have the best CG i can get to keep from Barrel rolling off the various tracks. Also trying to keep the overall weight down,as the big body and long wheelbase, makes for some serious tuning to get right. I will be running Magless Harry, so maybe that wont be an issue with the flexi chassis? I have stiffened it up with brass main rails to extend the wheelbase as well.

I think you will be fine. Can't wait to see it.
