Tribute to a legend

Postby slothead » Mon Dec 14, 2015 1:55 pm

I found this on SlotBlog from 2010. Seems like this guy knows his stuff:

One of the biggest problems our hobby has is the racer that wants to win at all costs. That person will go out and try every shortcut to stand on the highest step on the podium and doesn't care what it does to the hobby.

That problem is ascerbated by those that want to make extra money by building so called cheater motors. I'm sorry but it is simply wrong in my opinion.

I have raced the Parma DeathStar in many races and feel the same way that both Mike Katz and Mike Jr. do. It is a mainstay and the performance is very consistent across the range. Oh, you get the 'really good one' on occasion, but I kind of chalk that up to racing luck.

If folks would just go out and race, stop trying to cheat by using a motor that is faster and concentrate on simply having fun, then they will.

It's really a simple formula!

Yeah, Marty is a favorite around here, and he got that way really quickly by consistent effort to be helpful and supportive. At this terrible time in his life, it is very appropriate to renew our appreciation for all he has done for so many people.

Thanks, Marty. Again and again.

Yes, a very good man he is. Glad he still pops in from time to time and wish him our very best.
