Of dialing down NSRs with 18k motors - and other things...

I used to use the MT5 a lot, but availability isn't as good as before. I started looking around and tested the NSR.

Of course the price tag is much more than I want to spend, but my recent tests on the NSR "Baby King" has me hooked.

Seems NSR is the only company smart enough to create a motor like this for enthusiasts like us. 17K RPM @ 12 volts, this motor really hits the sweet spot for my needs.

The pods in the Racer models do not use traditional screws into the motor, so that stops me from using any other motor.

Expensive? Yes. Is it worth it to me? Yes. Only you can decide.

As Harry mentioned I am also a fan of the Baby King at 17 K but there is also a Spanish King at 19 k both by NSR.
To be honest the Baby King is a great little motor , but a higher price point. If you change your Sideways pods to sidewinder it expands the possibilities to s cans, but by the time youve changed motor pods and got a sidewinder s can , you can get a baby king or spanish king.
Just my thoughts on it.

You can run a Piranha motor or any other motor as long as it has screw holes in them in a Sideways or slot it style angle winder motor pod. NSR C can motors do not have them. We have been doing it at the store as of late. You can use screws to hold the motor in place and if you like you can add some shoe goo or some other glue to hold the motor.

Another endorsement for the Baby King.

Although it is pricey, it works much better on all of the tracks that we have run on then the 22.4K King motor. It has great acceleration and braking. It works well with a wide range gear ratios allowing you to tune for different tracks. The cars are more controllable with the Baby King compared to the King motor, unless you are running on tracks that only have very long straights and high speed curves.

Just put a scaleauto 21K rpm motor in one of my Avant slot Porsches. It made it a much more manageable slot car.
