Yup, there were at least two fiberglass tubs that were the original 2As. The 2C was the first aluminum tub and at least one 2A ended up with 2C bodywork (flipper wing and all).
The fiberglass tubs became the 2D and eventually the 2F coupes.
The 2E and 2G were aluminum chassis as well.
Then the 2H and 2J were all to themselves....

So yeah....he was pretty good at evolution although more radical than McLaren. Probably one of the big reasons Chaparral cars were and still are famous. Besides being one-of-a-kind.
Including wheel design, and not by Borrani

You guy's have the Chaparral model timeline all figured out. I've been a fan since I had my Hot Wheels Chaparral and McLaren cars as a youngster. One of my prize possessions is a Oct 6 1966 letter and envelope from Chaparral Cars to my father, typewritten by Sandy Hall and signed by Jim Hall. My dad was a doctorate student at Auburn University at the time and must have written about vehicle systems he was working on. Jim Hall addressed anti skid braking in the return letter but mentioned a reliable system had yet to be developed.

On Chaparral wheel design and slot cars, Revell made the best correct 1/32 wheel insert manufactured to date. And only 50+ years ago! Monogram also made a very good correct 1/24 wheel insert in the same 60's period but then Cox had their 1/24 scale cast magnesium wheel which is very good but lacks the 6 bolt lug pattern.

Regardless of the wheels, this is the way I'll always think of the Chaparral!
