Thanks for the info mattb , will be looking for those, and with the drag racing I know it is a lot about gears and gear ratio with the rpm of motors, for me in the beginning it will be a lot of testing and tuning, then ( I hope ) a lot of fun, and between the 1/32 scale and the 1/24 scale I have a lot of projects I am doing. Now I just need to finish a few of them

Drag racing can be bracket racing or class racing. For bracket racing it really comes down to your reaction time with the tree. If you use a starter switch, old resistor controller or one of the $300 drag controllers, it really doesn't matter as much as if you are consistent every run, which means a very consistent reaction time. You dial in and run a handicap system based on the time you usually run. Simple explanation.

Guys that run drag classes based on motors and bodies, it is a bit different. That is like real pro drag racing classes. The guy with the most money usually wins as the racing is heads up and some guys spend $300-$400 just for motors. They have a very limited life so they don't run them much just for practice! I saw this Monday nite when one of the serious guys came in and ran a couple times to break in and see how his new car ran. He made about 4 passes and then put the car away so he wouldn't wear out the motor!

Most of this is way over my head. Our guys all have a drag car or two and we use the tree to handicap our cars based on what our quickest times with each car is. These are cars I build with whatever old time chassis and motors I have. The cars are copies of the real hot rods the guys own. They run 1/4 mile at the commercial track, but most of what we do is on a 1/8th track at one of the guys houses where we just play with slot cars.

Here is a remote starter that is listed on Ebay for $10. You can probably find one at a local parts house or maybe Harbor Freight for less money and no postage.

I will be looking at getting an remote starter switch just for drag racing, like I might have said in an earlier post, I was making a couple of tribute cars for a friend, he had given me the 1/24 scale models that were the same ones that him and his dad would take to car shows and drag raced in the area, he also dropped of a few other models, now a couple of those I will build like how I would like to see, differant colors and things like that , hope to get pics of them during the building process. So thanks for all of the info
