Speaking of resin bodies

I've enjoyed reading through the thread of suppliers of resin bodies for our hobby. I had to take a look at my own collection and realized that I have a few resin bodied cars that I've either acquired or had the pleasure of building myself. I really love the way the heavier bodies helps the handling of most of these cars. Since I don't run with magnets, this really makes a noticeable difference.

It depends on the resin used as well. On our Showdown bodies, the weight is usually the same or even lighter than our Scalextric "test" bodies.

That's a pretty nice selection of resin cars....I love that we can get cars that aren't otherwise available. That's very cool.

That's true Harry, it really does depend on the resin used. Some examples of light weight resin would be the DART McLaren MC12 and any kit offered by Topslot. On the heavy end would be Teamslot.

It's an interesting topic really.

Not all bodies are the same. So when I see a comment like "Resins are heavy", it's not really a global attribute. Today, with different blends and techniques, one cannot really say that for ALL resins.

And YOU are correct when speaking of the added few grams. My RMS resin Chevelle is one fast mover. Just great balance. The body weighs more than others, but it works pretty much as you described.
