The only reason I think Monogram went with the front engine driveshaft design was to allow full interiors in those cars. The Greenwich Corvettes are nicely detailed cars and the chassis design compliments that. Many other manufacturers used sidewinder chassis to get the motor behind the interior, such as Pioneer and Scalextric Trans Am cars (before the Javelin which has a newly created inline configuration).

if you have several Monogram driveshaft cars you'll be able to do what is generally recommended here on HRW - race cars against each other by type. All of the Scalextric Trans Am cars are comparable and closely matched performance wise, and the Pioneer Trans Am cars fit in here too. But my Monogram Mustang GT 350 isn't on their level. If all your cars in a class are of the same type you should have good racing, regardless of chassis design.

Well, the three cars I have are the Cobra, the Mustang, and the Corvette, all painted the same color, different numbers, the Cobra is the only one that has anything glued to the bottom of it. like I said in an early post that I was going to change the color, but decided not to. Maybe clean them up a little and re-chrome some of the parts

Those should race well together. I found the great looking rear tires on the cars to be slippery on my routed oval, so I switched to Maxx Trak silicone tires. But plastic track should have more grip than hardboard, and if the magnets are still in place you will be fine with stock tires.

Just wait for your grandson to break a driveshaft in a real car, lets hope he is close to home if and when it happens

And slothead, they look good just sitting next to one another, was able to pick up another Cobra, I want to change the color and markings on this next one to something that they had raced together with, either a red or green color and different numbers and markings
