hey guys i have another question i was in walmart over the week end and saw some model kits tamiya ,revell etc ,132/and 1/24 after building these kits can you put slot car chasis on them

I'm sure you can,, we have a few guys showing up with model kits on slot.it chassis. you can buy mounting kits or fab up your own using plastic L shaped tabs (found at home improvement stores) then glue to the chassis sides then use small screws from the tabs right into the side of your new body, this is how some Parma womp cars mount their bodies. We have used this method to mount dirt model bodies found on Ebay. Hope this gives you an idea.

I've always wanted to put a model car body on a slot chassis and have seen some that look really cool. just wondering...are they crash worthy?

Also, don't be afraid to chop a chassis to match up the wheelbase. As Mike has shown, you can glue them back easily enough.

Model kit bodies are tougher than you might think. Of course very hard crashes will result in breaking them, but that can be said for standard slot cars too.

Champion driver figures - Parma bought out Champion a while ago, and is not supporting all of the legacy products. The mold for these driver figures broke, and they won't be repairing it. We have 12 left, and then they're gone. If any of our casters are interested in reproducing them, we can supply a master.

We used to call this "kitbashing" in the old days. Some models match wheelbase with existing chassis. There are some adjustable chassis too. I like the Artin chassis because they are cheap and have two wheelbase settings, but there are brass chassis that are much more adjustable as well. You can make a simple styrene chassis too, depending on how much power you want to apply.

I also posted this on another thread, but you can use the actual model chassis as a starting point in some cases:


That's a Monogram Ferrari F-40 snap tite kit with brass tube for axle bushings and a Scalex guide flag.

So by all means, choose your favorite kits and bash away!

Here is a Revell '55 Chevy on a Slot.it HRS chassis with a 21.5K motor. Shoreline Model Raceways has a class for cars like this, we race on wood tracks at 10 volts and never had any body damage. This car uses the Slot.it Hrs cup body mounting system in front with a single screw post in back. These cars handle better with some body float.
