Snow day slot projects

The shoveling and 4x4 fun is over, now time to work on some projects.



HRW Jim gave me this baby. He had the paint mixed at the local parts store and it came out great. Now just need to line out the chassis and finish it.



But first a special project. Thanks to Old Johnny, a "Santa Special" is in the works. Working on turning down the original wheels on the Cobra.

You bet!!! I am cooped up too, by bad weather. I had some strangenesses on the track to deal with, but I had a whole 3 hour break to work on the NC-1 Ninco Jag XK120 project. I stripped the motors from three cars to harvest NC-1s, but all eight are ready for tuning now. The PG tires you recommended for the Jags are installed with enough left to put a pair (perfect fit) on a Testa Rosa, too. In the next few days I'll add weights and get rid of the ridiculous Ninco spring guides, and then I'll have two bodies that are duplicates that I will paint. I am partial to the painted wire wheels, and I have found steel wheels to use for a couple of the cars. It feels good to get back in the groove! Bring on the sleet and snow!

Funny you say you don't like the Ninco sprung guides, Rob. I love them. But then I have some fairly odd camber on some corners on my track. And I fit them to most of the non-SCX rally cars, particularly for proxies.

Nice sun shining at the moment. I might sit outside and do some sanding and polishing.

I haven't started adding weight to see if the sprung guides can be used on my track. So far, every one of the Jags with the sprung guides gets almost no contact with the copper tape. Tomorrow I will start adding lead here and there. The main thing about these conversions is that the magnet on these newer Ninco chassis is vital to making contact, unlike so many other manufacturer's chassis. I hope the added weight will compensate. Otherwise, I will be buying B-Novas in quantity.

Rob, none of my XK120s have had magnets in them. Neither old ones nor new. I assumed they were released without.

I assumed the motor magnets had some pull on Ninco track with high rails, no? I have no way of knowing for sure.

Don't know to be honest. Not used Ninco track. But the Jag was the only one without traction magnets.
