Just having fun with my son

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Wed Jun 25, 2014 7:54 pm

Tonight we decided to get some racing in together. The new laptimer caught my son's eye and I asked if he wanted to do some timed racing to see what he could do. He was READY to say the least.

First up: Racer Sideways 5612BB. I swapped in a MT5 and PG tires. Set it up as best I could and it was time to drop the green.

Anthony got into his pace easily. This "kid" has been racing since he could crawl.

Image

Pretty impressive run. Especially since he does not do it often and this was without warming up.

Image

He was pushing this crate for all it was worth. Got a little slideways here and there but he held on.

Next up: His new Carrera Merc.

Image

Now here is the greatest part: It is 100% BOX STOCK. He took it from the case, scuff cleaned the tires and rolled them over some tape and told me to start the race.

Image

Not only stock, but he wanted to night race :) This was a sight as usual.

Image

Not bad. Not bad at all. It's not easy going from a tuned Racer to a stock Carrera but he did it.

And what really surprised me? Not ONE de-slot. He got close a couple times but recovered. I know he grew up with these toys but figured he would at least hit the weeds a couple times, but not once :)

Oh, we were listening to the Beach Boys too. :music-guitarred:

Great fun tonight!

There is NEVER a time so enjoyable as that spent with one of your children doing things together while they are growing up. I don't care if it's attending one of the sporting events they are involved in, going shopping, a day on the water fishing or one of my favorites, a couple of days out camping with them. That is time you will never, ever forget and neither will they.

Good show Harry!

Good to see he's still having fun with the old man. It sucks getting beat by him though...I haven't won anything against my kid in a long time. Sigh.

Way to go, Anthony!

Harry, what kind of lap times do you think you can get from that GT Merc if you get her tuned up right?

I have a Carrera Ferrari 458 (AF Corse) waiting for me at home now and the Black Falcon Merc in your OP is on my list; and the Falken Porsche 997 is on my maybe list...............

You can make these GT cars from Carrera haul the mail on the lumber.

B-Nova guide conversion. I cannot advise a better modification for these models. That plus a session on the Tire Razor and some new PG tires will make it a very smooth runner. Likely a full second or more after tuning.
