I may buy a chassis or two just because. :lol: If they had a chassis for the Carrera Scirocco I would be on it... :D
It would be great if that car could join my sons Clio in the Hot Hatch group...

Some more information, I weight the car(s) today after work. The stock Carrera BMW come in at 102 grams. The Carrera Body on the Shapeways/Slot it chassis with
2 - 2.5 gram tungsten bar in the pod come in at 97 grams. The track we race on at Sidewinder is an 87 foot 4 lane non-magnetic braid.

The stock Carrera is a nice car, I think they are a little over engineered but you can't beat the price! I have several that I run on my plastic track at home. That said I am a tinkerer and enjoy our Wednesday night club racing, so I'm always looking for something new to run in our classes. This conversion is right up my alley. I understand it's not for everyone but I'm glad Slot it is doing this and hope they do more. Now I need the Red Bull Audi!

Oh and what is in my pipeline next? Well we are going to run an open, anything goes, Trans Am Race in Honor of one of or racers that passed away.So, there is a Scaley 69 Camaro body mounted on a cut down Racer Sideway Riley chassis with a long can pod and a 25K Slot it Black motor ready to go!

Well I got my chassis for my Carrera BMW DTM and went about building a complete Slot it chassis.
I used a stock LMP guide that doesn't fit very well so I have a screw one ordered. I have a yellow flat6 motor, 1mm offset pod with spherical bushings, Slot it axles, gears, screws and wires. I used Slot it aluminum wheels all around, stock tires on the front and NSR 5214's on the rear. I put it all together and it runs like... well like a Slot it.
The chassis is very flexible but I found that to my liking. It fits to the Carrera body perfectly, I didn't have to do any sanding.
I had the Carrera chassis running very well after I removed the magnets, trued the rear wheels and added Yellowdog urethane on the rear and trued them. It ran well but still had the heavy feel of a Carrera.
The 3D chassis and Slot it parts eliminated all that and now it flies. It still may need a little weight but other than that I'm very happy with it.
I have included several pics, so hopefully this helps in your decision to give one of these a try. I have a Mercedes and an Audi I will be installing these on. I will be maintaining the Carrera chassis for each so all I have to do is swap them out and run them in either style I want.

The chassis looks very cool! Do you know if it is possible to retain the stock lights when using the Slot It chassis?

I'm pretty sure you could make the stock lights work if you wanted to.
