TGIF - Projects Everywhere

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Fri Nov 07, 2014 7:17 am

Another week in the books. Seems like a lot of folks have all sorts of projects going, it's really fun to see all the cool builds/tracks/scenery..etc, going on.

Have a lot going on here, some projects that are new and also catching up on some of those that have been waiting too long.

Want to thank Bob and OldSkool once again for the auctions. And big thanks to the winners. It all is much appreciated.

So what new or old projects are on your bench?

I have a baby shower at the house this Saturday, i guess now its fashionable for men to attend with their spouse's? so there will be some racing in the shop!
Got three new/old bodies in the works Cunningham/xk120/ferrari166. Hope to see some progress on at least one of them.
Started casting track figures last weekend, and soon will have ALL the old monogram and MRRC Track people available for those who like scenery on their tracks.
Plans in the making for a" Petite Le mans "At Cherokee Point, We are discussing a 6 hour , two man team event, starting late in the afternoon, going into the early evening so we can make use of the headlights!. This should be a very fun adventure if we can get the bugs worked out of the plan.
Also had a great B-day yesterday, and want to thank ALL who wished me well, its nice to have so many friends that i have never met face to face, but share a common interest.
And Harry, no thanks is needed for my Auction, it was the least i could do for the Cause. I look to do something similar at intervals to help keep the site running at the fantastic level that you have brought it to.
Have a great weekend All!

Flying home from Cali this morning. Two weeks away from home is too long. I'm happy though as the training was excellent, the hotel staff here was awesome, and I finally got to meet Shotgun Dave and his great family! Definitely not a trip I'll soon forget!

I have a few orders to make and ship and my dad is then coming over to race and to work on our SCCA T-Birds! We started these almost two years ago if my memory is correct. The plan is to get them running and into primer. It will also be the first real test of the new timing software with fuel stops in use. Looking forward to that!

Date with the wife on Saturday night and then watching my Broncos kick the crap out of the Raiders in an attempt to remove the taste of the loss to the Patriots.

David, I would love to hear your thoughts on the Fuel racing afterwards! We have made all our race scenarios include that feature on the Road course. It is addictive, and probably the best thing ever added to analogue racing that i have ever tried.
I never hear how anyone else finds this feature, other than to say they like it.The racing is SO different when using fuel stops!
I would like to know if your lap times increase or decrease on average, due to most times not being door to door, and so on.

Tomorrow, everything here stops dead in its tracks, while I prepare a feast to eat while the big game is on. LSU will fight the good fight against mighty Alabama. That reminds me- more beer, I need to get that done. Its been oddly dry around here.

Dave, I forgot to mention this, But NAPA sells 3/16 and 1/4 brake line in rolls pretty cheap. It can be flared to accept the bulbs or left as just a hollow mast. Its much cheaper than individual pre-made brake lines and works really good.
And your track is looking fantastic i might add! Somehow, one day i am going to bring a few stockers out there to play!

The General let me pick up some bratwursts and salt & pepper tater chips. Will try to get some work done before supper, because afterward I am not sure how much I will get done.

I found the brass tubing Dave, right where you said it would be. Thanks. I don't care what RazorJon says, you are pretty smart.

Headed to Perris Auto Speedway near Riverside for the Oval Nationals. One of the fastest dirt 1/2 miles in the nation; designed by Bubby Jones. Clay and DG were brought in from all over the country to build the racing surface.

Our local (Ventura) guys include Cory Kruseman and Troy Rutherford. They will be out fighting all the rest of the guys from around the country.

Premier West Coast race for 360 and 410 non-winged sprint cars. Should be awesome!! and then some.

Weekend already? I'm sure yesterday was Monday.

His Lordship is tied up with official South West Games duty again this weekend, so I'm on my own.

Now that I've got rid of some pesky proxy cars I can get back to having some fun. I need to get my Giulietta chassis finished off and I've got a Lotus 24 to get back to work on. A dozen portrait driver heads all finished needing photographing. And a new camera to work my way around. That's going to take some time.

My better half and I are making a long weekend of it and are going to San Francisco to spend some time with our eldest daughter. We will also make the short 35 mile hop down to Silicon Valley to visit her parents while we are there.

I am in the middle of relocating a gas water instant heat heater with all of the assorted plumbing and venting required but still managed to get the body mounted and the driveline fitted to my fiberglass Maserati Tipo 61 birdcage yesterday. When I return home, I will run her on my track for awhile to work out the bugs in the rolling bits before moving on to finish work such as the interior, windscreen and final paint and decals. She has a shortened Monogram Grand Sport Corvette chassis that has been tubbed front& back to keep the tires inside the wheel arches of the narrow body.

This week went fast! Should be able to do some more on a project I got going. Something a little different from the norm. I just can't wait for the cold weather to get here so I don't have to leave the house. Slot building time! :D
