That is the coolest thing about this group of folks Harry has on his site.Talk the magnet debate on just about any other site and get some mad mean post real quick.All of these comments have been positive,very positive..

I'm happy either way, but I guess if pressed, I'd say no mag, I do like a nice tail slide, I know it's not the quickest way, but there's something very gratifying in running lap after lap just drifting through the bends, it's mesmerising. The plus side is that when you do come off it's not at warp speed when the mags let go all of a sudden and you don't spend 3 hours looking for shattered bits of your F1 Lotus or whatever.

But if guys want to run mag then that's fine by me too. The worst hours worth of racing slots is always 10 times better than the best hour working !!!

I prefer no-mag.....but I'm just as happy to hear people find different ways to enjoy the hobby as well!

Me, I'm more of a no-mag guy, but have run with them too. I'm just happy to see everyone having a good time running slot cars. Fun is what it's all about. I'm not sure if I like working on the cars or running them better. Either way I have fun with them. :)

Yes, that is a hard one to answer as well. Not everyday do I actually make a car run right, so when it does I get a kick out of it. And creating a model from a heap of parts that actually moves is right up there with driving it.

And yeah Ken, then there is just watching the action unfold. Just like watching the 1:1 cars do battle, the sight of my friends in close combat is something I have always enjoyed. Seeing the old bombers on the oval sliding into the corners door to door with just one mistake ready to cause havoc, or the tail sniffing action of classics snaking through the chicanes on the road course.

Watching the bombers go around on the oval is a hoot. It's fun to watch them just waiting for someone to mess up. Watching is about as much fun as running them. That feeling of having a car run and handle well is what is fun to me. :)

Great thread guys...I run Carrera 1/32 digital on a road course and depending on what livery we run you can still get many of them to drift onto the shoulders., especially when you start losing the tire traction after a few laps . Thanks to the rest of the guys in the club that I'm in that run without them on wood so I can experience a completely different style of racing . It sure was nice seeing that not one person on here put down another persons opinion of mag or no mag . Props go out to Harry and the guys for running a very professional type site where every guy on here just enjoys the hobby for what it is..GROWN MEN PLAYING WITH LITTLE CARS and enjoying the heck out of it . If everybody ran the same thing there wouldn't be any reason to check this site everyday like I do :lol: ..Thanks to everyone on here for letting me enjoy this hobby more and more every day...later

I think a lot of us that stick with the hobby at some point experiment without magnets. I personally love the way a well-tuned car drives sans the help. That is real racing to me.

Well guys couldn't resist posting (longtime lurker seldom poster) my likes and ideas on this topic. We run magnets and have dabbled some with no mag. And yes its all about what you like and enjoy from the hobby. In tuning a car and competing with it...one tries to get the most out of the car without deslotting or having a mechanical breakdown. Whether one uses magnets or weight to get to that heavenly plateau of being one with the car (which I am sure all of you have attained) is slot car nirvana. Having been in this hobby now for 10 years I know from experience that just putting extra magnets on a car does not alleviate all the surrounding issues a car may have to compete...at least not with the guys I race with in my club. However, it may mask some but bring others to light. Just letting you guys know that tuning a mag car and getting the most out of
it while competing and not having a motor die out or just be too slow because you do have too much magnet is not as easy as putting a magnet in the chassis. ......just saying and Happy Slotting :D
