Slot.it 3D Chassis for Carrera DTM

Having one of these chassis under a DTM body is akin to Racer building competition ready versions of the Group 5 cars that Carrera and Fly have been cranking out for years on much slower chassis. Put a Flat 6 in an anglewinder pod along with precision, tunable parts and you have the formula for a smoking hot club race car rather than the toy it originally was. That body on a this chassis will be like night and day over the same body riding on the stock chassis.

Very interesting. Could this open up the potential for more collaborative efforts in future between Slot.it and majors? Not sure I can see Scalex being open to the idea.

I don't know if anybody else feels this way but, tuning Carrera cars have always been a pain in the @#$ for me and if i can fit them with a Slotit Chassis I will!! With All the Options from Slotit, It makes me want take all my Carrera Cars and covert them over!!

my understanding with these is they are 3D printed basically to order - not sure what that means if the 3D printing company doesn't have a local outlet in your country - but still a cool idea and maybe a sign of the future - companies no longer have to keep inventory - they just print on demand

Thanks Bibbster, Heres what I do to a new Slotcar when I am getting it race ready, this includes Carrera..
1. Take The Car completely apart
2. Put The Chassis and Body On A Piece Of Glass Or Chassis Jig To Make sure they are perfectly Flat!
3. Motor I cut off any excess that are on the pinion and motor side, and dyno it, changing the gears I prefere a 11 tooth pinion and a 36 tooth spur.
4. As I put The Chassis back togther I Put spacer's in were they need them so there is no slop in the axles, polish the axle with very fine sandpaper and I use a dremel to break in the bushings so they are bearing smooth, (some times I resize or replace the front and rear alxe), tape the guide wire in place so the guide is always straight.
5. I take the tires off the wheels and check to make sure the are true, same with the tires replacing the rears with silicons.
6. Before I put the body on the chassis I look for excess molding in or around the body and chassis and cut them off.
7. I tighten the body screws all the way down then unscrewing the front one full turn and the rears 1 1/2 turns.
8. Last this is Motor break in, I use to put all my motors on a 9volt battery in glass of water, but I found that track break in works better for me, I set my lap counter for about 200 laps, put a rubber band around my controller and let it run, only stopping every 5 minutes to lubricate.
I know this sounds like much, but this is one of my favorite things to do to a new slotcar, and I always like pulling off the shelf and showing people this is what a new car sounds and drives and then what it sounds and drives after I tune them!! An for some reason Carrera Cars donot like me!! LOL!!

I not only enjoy the DTM cars.But the Australian Super Cars put on a good race.The drivers in both of these series I think run two separate races And driving for all their worth!!Not like NA$CAR,Where Freight - Train racing is the norm and commentators nervously wait for "The Big One".And let us not forget the " phantom debris" inside the 10 laps to go mark that usually leads to the take my breath away.Green,White Checker! 3D chassis seems useless in a ... TANK !!! The body weight is so high that a motor mount moving, or standard hubs will not make it a race car, in a NSR GT or SLOTIT Group C way of racing.

I think that many racer were asking Slot It to improve there product offer , and offer different cars thant LM Classics and LM 98. Many racers asked finally for DTM SLOT RACING cars, and Slot It found that CARRERA were the prettiest in the market, more sold that Scalex, Ninco ... or ARTIN !!!

I won't change many things in my CARRERA but tyres and this way they will always behave like heavy RACER RESINA. That is fun. When all our cars are racing the track at the same speed (LM 98, NSR GT, Sideways Group 5 ...) you in fact change the car but not the fun, the behavior. I think in the end we will lose the fun about the glorious way of the ultimate set up !!!
Racing around a 45 meters , 6 line track is another challenge with a CARRERA DTM , nothing to be compared to a 10'956 for a nicely prepared italian born 1/32 slot car.

But the idea is to have always 6 cars running the classic track.

But DTM in the end needs digital, ten cars or more on a 4-6 lane track , and the idea is maybe to developp the Oxigen and the DTM, DTM side by side has not the fun of group racing.
