New releases trickling out

The Camaro looks great and I'm happy that they made it look so good on the '69 body. While not correct, the car looks believable. The average slot car buyer that likes T/A will not care as it gives them another livery to run, nor will I when I purchase it.

Considering Scalextric continues to do this series and provide great cars that anyone can still purchase after 11 years says something to their commitment to the series.

As for the vintage GP cars - as the other markets get theirs it is possible you'll be able to find them there in limited quantities once the US supply is gone. If you want the cars, you'll buy them no matter the cost.

3000 in that production run, I'm suspecting that the majority will find their way to the UK.......

Not surprised by the quick sales of the box set. Scalextric have a superb record of re-sale value.....

I've noticed that Scalextric keeps moving its prices up of its new cars also a little at a time and have now crested over the $50 mark.

I really like the performance and their look of Scalextric cars but the prices just make you look at the new Carrera cars so much more with Carreras current low pricing of around $36.99 and the quality and performance of their cars also.

How many more years will it be until Scalextric is in the same price range as Ninco?

When Scaley cars hit $80 Ninco will be well over $100. Inflation is a fact of life, except my income.

If you want T/A, your choices are limited. I find that the MSRP isn't really followed by most stores and that I can find these cars from $40 often. As the releases get older or sell out, the prices go up on auction sites. So get them early is my motto.

Carrera does an amazing job covering just about everything else other than semi-truck racing. Seriously wide range at great prices.

Not buying a lot of slot cars this year, and I don't usually buy Scalextric, but I did grab the Legends boxed set. Picked it up today, and it's smokin' hot.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger last night on the two car set (couldn't resist), because I figured I didn't have time to think about it. Picked it up from Power Slot Cars, and they are now sold out. I also got the #12 while I was at it. They only have 5 or six of the #12's left.

Production costs never go down. Materials don't get cheaper. Labour doesn't get cheaper. The only thing that continues to get cheaper is the bloke on the end of the line with his hand in his pocket reaching down to his knees to find his wallet.

Being spoilt for choice has built a competitive market. As pressure eases with manufacturers dropping off prices will rise to where they should be.

"Production costs never go down." Yes they do. Remember the Luddites. The whole point of industrial improvement is to make it cheaper and faster. Its been going on consistently since around 1835.
"Labour doesn't get cheaper." It doesn't have to. The money is worth less while the rate remains nearly the same. It just won't buy as much.

The only time the above has temporarily been inconsistent is the occasional Depression/Recession when the "labor" is even more below the living wage. Remember- When the worst Depression in history happened, yacht sales boomed the entire time. This is why the silly "supply/demand" equation we hear about is irrelevant.
