How much for the Camaro and Challenger bodies, would love to have those two in my stable of cars, and is there any pre made chassis for them

I am sorry to hear Harry is going to use the molds in a more specific way. I sure would like to see the 70 Cuda mold stay the same as from Mr Reinecke. I would buy several as the original T/A car. Already have a Cuda with wider wheel wells.

Harry has the following kits he will be turning into Showdown cars:

1963 Falcon
1968 Chevelle
1970 Duster
1966 Nova II
1965 Impala
1966 Chevelle
1966 Corvair
1967 Dart
Busch Stocker
1970 Monte Carlo
1973 Malibu

Again, the agreement is for these to be modified as Sportsman cars. Once those mods are done, he will mold them and cast them for the members here that want to do the Showdown.

I have all the original RMS Masters and am working with someone to take over production of those. I hope to know something in the next few months.

Lastly - everyone says they want the molds. No you don’t. Those go bad. You want the Master model to re-mold. In this case, Harry has a full kit to create a NEW Sportsman Master.

Hopefully between what Harry plans to offer and my attempt to get RMS cranked back up will allow these to be available again.

As Rich said - lots of casters have disappeared over the years. 14 years was a pretty good run for RMS.

Yes, 14 and going. Not to mention RMS did more to improve the TA series than any other.

I have had a few messages saying the same thing “I would get XXXX body if you kept it stock”.

My goal is specific and as Dave has mentioned, there are plans for the line to continue as is. I wanted models that could be used for our oval racing series and he answered the call.

Thanks Dave, free slotburger for you soon. :flags-waveusa:

I will be looking forward to getting my hands on a few of those Falcons when they become available. Are there any more Fords in the future? REL13 :D

Anything is possible. First I need to start on some of these and finish the two models on my carving bench. :o

Glad to hear that there is a future for RMS and we get some cool sportsman style versions from Harry. It’s a double win for the slot car community.

It will be cool to see these carry on, morphed a bit to the oval.

Although getting all the parts from SCC, and a new building board to head for this weekends' round, that two+ month coughing spell kept me from doing much.

Sign me up for a Duster body Boss, and I'll build it out and either the Galaxie or Camaro of yours I have, Thanks,
Cheers,

I am sorry , I should have given you my e mail address, LocoONE59@yahoo.com , my next question , will there be a list of the type of chassis that will work with the models , with RMS he had a type of chassis that would work, because of a stroke it will be easier for me. Hard to build a brass chassis from scratch. Thank you

Harry I am not worried about the trim on the car , just the body , I also have a 1/24 scale body that I will be making into a dragster , so it isn't going to be a half queen at all. As far as I am concerned all my cars will be seeing track time . But the ones that will be protected as much as they can be will be my RMS bodies, now those will be handled only by me.

Fathead59 - good to hear your still a slotter after a stroke. The more things a person keeps working at the more skills they can recover. Yes, everyone is different and age plays a big role, but motivation and support are essential.

I used an extended Scalextric Camaro chassis under an RMS Cougar body and built a simple custom chassis around an SCX NASCAR motor pod for another one. The Camaro chassis fit RMS 70 Firebird and Camaro bodies without modification. I had to use a Carrera '66 Mustang chassis under the Dart body, it was the only one I could find that was narrow enough to keep the tires inside the body.

There are many materials and methods for making custom chassis beside going the brass route often shown here. Most of my custom chassis are made from styrene sheet. rectangular, and tubing stock. It's easy to cut and file to size and glue together. Where needed JB Weld can be used to strengthen key areas, this is how I mount axles tubes. You can also find shortcuts for building brass chassis such as cutting up Womp Womp chassis and reassembling as needed using solder, JB Weld, or even hot glue. Whatever you decide to try someone else here will have some experience to share to help you out.
