Just a few replies to some of the posts above…
Greg: The AAR Cuda is just sitting in CAD waiting. If I do press ‘GO’, it will probably be the last of the T/A era models for the reasons I mentioned previously.
Frank: Look out for a PM from me regarding The Legends.
Joe: You’re right. Maybe there is just not any real need for a Pioneer version of the Cuda or the Javelin. I’d hate to have to just park the CAD but that’s the way it goes sometimes.
…and the topic then diversified onto the subject of fantasy/real team liveries on the new Legends Cars…..
Harry gave a very good analysis of the how the market sits right now. Specifically, on the Legends, I’m not aware of any major teams that run these cars around the world. Apart from some drivers that went on to drive in the full NASCAR series, most of races are organized on a local level with privateer entrants.
There are 1000’s of these cars out there right now racing. More Legends cars still exist than any other race car. As far as I can tell, there are no ‘really famous’ cars. I have taken the time to wander up and down a number of pit lanes and chat to drivers and small 2-car teams. The response was 100% positive to making replica models of these cars. There will be no license issues with making the #32 Ford Coupe with ‘DYNOFAST’ logos, for example. Steve and Ed will be delighted with a little publicity. No corporate hassles there.
If it’s an attractive livery, we’ll take a look at it. Also, we’ll do some ‘fantasy’ liveries if that seems to be appropriate and worthwhile. Most of these cars are bright and eye-catching with big stylized numbers on the side.
Ready-2-paint kits will be readily available and expect many guys will enjoy building them up just as they want them.
When will they be ready? The shortest answer is soon. Tooling is completed. All that is in the way, production wise, are the 50th anniversary special editions of Bullitt (going through now) and the Christmas Edition Santa cars. We’ll then start the Legends in early December but that does mean they will not make it out for Christmas. Logistically, that will not work. My best guess will be January.

PS. I’m fairly sure that the first Legend car you will see will be this one:-
