For a solvent based clear I now use Testors clear. Krylon Crystal Clear also works well. For a while I was using Dupli-Color automotive clear, which is more durable than paints that are intended for plastic models. When the can that I was using ran out I was not able to find the same exact product and the stuff from the new can was so hot that it attacked the paint. Paint products often get reformulated, a new can of your favorite paint might have a different combination of solvents and may not play well with what is already on the car. It is always best to do some test sprays.
