Some good news, the handout motors have arrived NSR....along with some prizes ;O)

I will plan to livestream the motor tach'ing tomorrow night Friday May 17 - I am aiming for 8p Mountain. The livestream will be here: https://www.facebook.com/TouristTrophyCanada/

You don't need to a Facebook account to watch, only to comment.

To conduct the motor tach, I will be using the Giri app to measure. I have used the app before and it's consistently within 100 RPM of my tach.

After the livestream, I will post the motor RPM for each of the handout motors in this thread and on the TT Facebook page.

I am aiming to conduct a "live" motor draft over the phone next Tuesday (May 21) night - 8p mountain. I will circulate and arrange Skype call details that will have a toll free number to call in. I will schedule this tomorrow. The draft itself should take only 5 mins.

Draft Order - furthest to travel determines order for round 1, round 2 in reverse order.

Round 1

1. Winnipeg
2. Vancouver
3. Kelowna
4. RMR1 - Autobots
5. RMR2 - Bravo Team
6. SCRE1
7. SCRE2 - River City Racers

Round 2 (reverse order)

8. SCRE2 - River City Racers
9. SCRE1
10. RMR2 - Bravo Team
11. RMR1 - Autobots
12.Kelowna
13.Vancouver
14.Winnipeg

If team captains cannot attend the motor draft please arrange for a delegate and pass the invite to them. In the event you do not attend, your team choice will automatically be filled by the next highest RPM available motor.

FYI - the motor draft has been scheduled for next Tuesday May 21st at 8p Mountain; invites have been emailed out to team captains along with dial-in details.

Evening folks.

Thanks to those that dialed in for the motor draft tonight. Good to connect for a chat.

While we waited with baited breathe for Winnipeg's first overall pick, the Commissioner was interrupted by breaking and quite frankly startling news out of the host SCRE1 camp. SCRE1 captain Midagekid and local Pioneer Slot Car Fanatic in his absence traded away both his NSR motor picks for a bag of used hockey pucks, the conditional rights to Kevin Lowe's "slightly used" jockstrap and the right to use 18k Pioneer motors for the race. :o

The trade was approved by SCRE2 captain, SlotGT who motioned for the trade to be approved which was seconded by Superslab. Congrats Midagekid on his new bag'o'pucks, used undergarments and those Pioneer motors! Somewhere SCRE1 teammates Heli_ca and Radarek are said to be waiting in a dark alley for Midagekid... :violence-smack:

After that shocker we got going with the draft ;O) Winnipeg (Paul B for Mike K) managed to email in their first pick in (motor 13), and from there motors generally were picked in order of highest available RPM.

Next steps are for teams to get in their tire size and allocation of their handout tires into Mr Gage. Seems like most if not all will have done so tonight, well except our super friends in the bunker, who may ormay not be preoccupied by a certain undergarment.... :doh:

We Got the motors we needed!

Last year the highest RPM motor was a dog! The mid pack motors are exactly what you need on the Dominator!

I think SCRE1 and SCRE2 picked the best motors! The mid pack motors are exactly what we wanted for our track! With our extensive testing the high and low rpm motors did not fare as well on the Dominator! Great job Edmonton!

Since we have a couple of motors between the two teams from Edmonton, does anyone want to buy one of our spare ones?

hi Tom, a couple of questions while you're waiting for your neodymium pie to bake:

2 Chassis h) states “The exterior side of the chassis facing the track may not be sanded down “ which seems to imply that the side away from the track may be sanded. Is this true? - if so it would be handy to take off those pesky magnet holder rings so a flat piece of lead could be used.

2 Chassis aa) states: “Original NSR body screw type must be used” but no mention is made of pod screws; can 2mm nyloc nuts/bolts be used on the pod?

Even if there won't be a Sask team at the TT, we were hoping to set up a Mk II Ford that Ed (53BN1) has to the race spec and maybe run a few test laps to see if we are anywhere in the ball park.

Back to the chassis bake, you might want to consider a heavier steel plate to clamp the chassis. The thin metal in that pie tin is liable to warp a bit when the hot water hits it. Also there's not much thermal mass there; a heavier plate will absorb some of the heat from the boiling water, which is needed because the deformation temperature of the plastic used in the chassis is well below 100 C. Ask me how I know :oops: .

Hey Scott,

Sorry no grinding away of the magnet holders is permitted; likewise, no changing out of the pod screws either. The rules are pretty straight forward in terms of what can be used as there is an approved part list for each car type at the end of the rules (last 5 pages) .

Likewise, there is the statement on Page 19 that if it's not stated then it's not legal - that covers everything else not outlined.

You may have not read that far if the rules doc wore you down though :lol:
