Yep, week dry paint, patience, brush of water to float em, wick em, solvaset em, probly a couple times, like most..is what I’ll try.
Your work there Rob really looks good!!
Round robin on about seven bodies moving towards paint,
Cyclone and a printed 1/24 Datsun 510 are front and center tomorrow..

But with the heat it may end up down back with lawn chairs in the river, and no bears!

Ken I might hit ya up for another Cyclone and chassis...

Waay - I bought Krylon gloss white paint + primer this evening (Walmart) and hope to get the body painted Saturday evening. It's going to be 95-100 degrees way up here in Maine so will have to keep an eye on the humidity to see if it's okay. I usually heat up my paint cans but that might be redundant tomorrow - could just set them in the sun for awhile.

I'm planning on doing 3 coats of white with 15 - 20 minutes between coats, then let it dry overnight. What did you use for the red parts? I have several cans of red but want to match the decals as well as you did. Since my Cyclone will be part of a street stock class competing with some cars with few decals except numbers, I may not do the whole set like you have. Depends on how things go once I get to that point. For now I just hope my paint lines where the white and red meet come out crisp.

Looking forward to seeing that body mounted on the chassis and what wheels you use.

I used the Apple Red (two coats), that Ken recommended, over Tamiya Pure White which is over white primer. I plan to Future the whole car when the body is finished.

After all that trouble I went to to get silver steel wheels, they are wrong. The wheels are black on the car. I looked closer at the photos I was using, and the silver wheels (the car was moving when they took the picture), were some dresser custom wheels that don't belong on a race car. So, now I get to paint the wheels black.

Apple Red, Rust-Oleum American Accents 2X Ultra Cover, Gloss Spray Paint, 12 oz shows in stock at my local Walmart. Good thing it's only 2 miles up the road.

I have read every post in this thread, most more than once. But can I remember anything a day later - heck no. Not sure if retirement was the right thing to do because my abilities aren't what they used to be, or my abilities aren't what they used to be because I retired and they aren't getting used as much.

Be careful about putting Future over white paint, it can cause it to yellow. It would be best to do a test on some scrap plastic first. Another thing to consider is that Future is not very good for protecting decals, if you race the car they are likely to be damaged. I always use a solvent based clear first, then top that off with Future.

Its been so long since I did a white car, I forgot. Yes, you are exactly correct. Future over white or gold is bad. I'll shoot Tamiya clear over it.

Shot the clear today (102F), and it looks fine. Good thing you reminded me about Future on white. I'll follow up tomorrow with a couple of thin coats and I'll post a picture.

1/8th? ... maybe a little at a time. As long as the bottom of the sill behind the front wheel is lower than just in front of the rear wheel it'll look good.

Waay - very nice looking Cyclone. Yes, I think you could lower the front end a bit and am wondering if/how the guide will be able to reach all the way into the slot with larger wheels and tires. The Pioneer Charger chassis has rather small wheels front and back. The ones you're using look better but some adjustment might be needed.

In the rear did you put those wheels onto the Pioneer axle? The rear axles I have with wheels like that have a crown gear in the center for inline use.

All Pioneer running gear, all Revell wheels and Carrera tires. They look fat, like the real car, but they tuck in without any modification.

I was kinda joking about the high front. I was amazed at how high it was when I assembled for the first time. I will take it down at least an eighth, probably more.

My chrome parts are ready, just a few details to add. The front grill insert is a wider mesh than the real car, so I have decided to just wash the grill as is. If I feel the need for better detail, I'll just lay it over the grill that I have. There are at least 4 versions of the rear panel, and I chose to use a red that continues from the trunk color, and it looks good with the chrome bumper. I'll outline the tail light bezels with chrome or silver, and then start the interior- roll bar, windshield braces, net driver's window, etc. If the weather lets me, I'll be running the car by Friday.

Alternative thought about the Cyclone stance. Maybe lower the front end a wee bit and raise the rear about the same. I got a leather punch at Harbor Freight (under $7) to make foam washers and think they'd work great for the rear. 2mm thick craft foam squeezes down as needed in a body mount.

Right now my unpainted Cyclone is just a little lower in the front than in the rear and has a nice stance.

The postie rolled up with my 2 kits today and they're looking good. Gotta get the Torino sorted 1st though. Just wondering why I didn't get Ken to add a 3rd kit to the box 'cos that Purolator car is looking sweet.

Hey wobble - what Torino kit are you working on? I've been thinking about getting the newly released Carrera #76 blue Torino RTR but haven't yet. Is that what you have, or something else? Your post sent me to the Proxie models website in case Ken also had a Torino kit for sale I missed when I bought the Cyclone kits.

Let us know what you have.
