B Nova adapters are getting hard to find. Anyone have any guide swaps that will work in their place?

That's good news, however on the cars my grandkids run I prefer something cheaper. I hate Carrera dual braids. I'm looking forward to seeing your new design. Keep us posted. :banana-dance:

What's the gripe with Carrera guides?

I used B-Nova adapters and Slot It guides on two vintage NASCAR stockers because it seemed to be the rage on the forums.
Having recently acquired a number of Carrera DTMs and GTs, I don't see what all the fuss is about with the stock guides. I do brush the stiff braid out with a wire brush. I run on a routed track, so I switch to urethane tires. I don't see a reason to spend another $7 per car for a new guide that I can't detect a big difference in.

Is it monkey see-monkey do, or a guilt trip for buying a $35 car that runs better than the $50 offerings from other companies?

You still need a $5 guide to go with that adapter....

Exactly, and I think the dual braid causes the guide to set too high in the slot.

The Carrera guides are also quite long and thick, making them hard to use on some tracks and tight radius turns. I know the guides can be trimmed, but that is just another step to make them work the way other guides do.

The braid does not cause the guide to sit high. I have tested nearly all models in the past 3 years and in most cases the guide height is simply that the mount is set to high into the chassis, causing the entire guide to not rest properly in the slot.

Do you have to change it? No. Of course not.

But if you are going to tune these models to get them to run smoother and perform better, the FIRST thing I do is remove the stock guide and replace it with a BNOVA system. This allows you to set up the front correctly.

Talking about price, well, either you are willing to invest the funds or you are not. But to clarify, here is the current cost I am spending.

BNOVA adapters are TWO for $5.99.
ScaleAuto Guides are TWO for $5.99

So $6.00 per car is not too much IMHO. If it is for you, then simply run them like they are.

I am testing a new system by D3D now. I will report ASAP the results so we might have another option.

BTW, Carrera has been putting the RED guide blades that are smaller in the back of the cases as of last year. Not all models, but most new releases. So if you just want a different blade, check there.
