I´m plying whith the idea of build a little oval track.

We have a 2 lanes "elra circuit" at home where our four persons "racing club" race once a month or so.
We have room to place a little oval folded at the wall.

The facts are;

We can build a 4 lanes little oval whith scalextric classic track we already have.
The laps counter must to be vintage mechanic Scalextric that we also got. (don´t want to spend cash).
We can race up to four at time.

We can make a little use of both tracks and can became a dust collector.
Will be a lot of crashes and maybe no fun.
There will be not to much room for scenery, a little of grass and a little bit more.


It´s a good idea to build it or a waste of time?

Small ovals are a lot of fun! Having just built one I find it is just a great time.

I wondered the same thing at first then I built a small inexpensive oval to try it out. Ever since it was finished it's been in use weekly. I would do it again! The cool thing about using Scaley track that you already have.
No huge expense plus, if you don't like the oval, the track can be reused..

My 2 cents worth - yes, give an oval a try. Plastic track, especially if you have it is fine, but if you really want to experience what keeps many of us at HRW addicted to racing consider routing a small oval. Mine is 4' x 14' with 2 lanes (3 1/2 lane spacing). Built it 8 years ago and have run a bazillion laps on it with my grandson.

Its much easier than you might imagine, and affordable. Route it right into the surface and there's no need for borders - powerslide for all yer worth. If you have enough drivers do 3 or 4 lanes, get a handful of evenly matched cars (dirt or asphalt modifieds recommended) and you'll be hooked like the rest of us. With plenty of help from this crew to help you out.
