Anyone have a source for 1/32 scale Indy Roadster era tires and wheels? Circa 1960-65?
Time to build the next proxy racer!

Figure the tire size you need then get it in urethane from Paul Gage either on Ebay at Slot car corner.

I bet that's one of the types ShotgunDave is making. He is making several unusual types.

What height do they need to be?
I have a set of CB Design insert16.5x7mm rims that look good with Ninco classic tires and the equivalent in urethane. The tire outside diameter is about 24mm. What I don't know is where to get the inserts for Indy cars. BRM makes 16mm wire wheels that also are about 24mm tall with tires.

Pendle Slots has 22.5mm and 25.5mm wire wheels and tires on their site. I put some on my Strombecker Maserati 250 and the rubber is soft enough to give excellent traction.

Mitch58 - could you share who the manufacturer of those wheels is? (I tried using the search function on Pendle's site - but can't seem to get it to work)
Dave - would love to see the other tire options you have been working on! (may have to some crude machining here!) :D

Dave - Thanks for the pictures! I may have to see what I can do to come up with some wheels to give some of those a shot... (I guess worst case for the no rib, I could look at digging through some of my old threaded axles and double flange wheels)
It is too bad that there isn't a "narrow" version of the Slot.it foam rubber wheels as I just found that those seem to be a great option for using the wider no rib tires! :)

Gentlemen, Wicked Mini did a tread not to long ago on these wheels and tires. We had CBD specialy make the 16.5x7 wheels & Quick Slicks made the tires. For wire wheel inserts,I like the Fly wheels that we cut down. Paint the inside of the wheel black & they look great! But there are other choices. I just don't remember them. :angry-tappingfoot: Look for his post for all the info.

Dave - I always forget about the Slot.it plastic wheels! For the fronts - that would definitely be a nice easy solution. :)
Thanks!
