TGIF - It has started

I would say this week marks the "start" of the new toy season :)

The new releases by Carrera have rolled in as well as a few from Scalextric. Some of these cars are the ones many of us have waited on, and time to enjoy them.

I'll be making my own reports, but very glad to see other folks posting new release opinions. This is how we really help the would-be addict that will be snooping around :)

Not much time for building. I have the parts...just need the time. If I start one more project on my bench, I might need to blast a hole in one of the walls and dig a new mancave :)

Hope all of you have a fun and safe weekend.

On my own with the dog & cats while the better half takes her mom to California to live. Have to keep the place clean now that it's listed, hoping for some "lookie-lous" this weekend.

Awaiting a package from ccobra that seems to be taking the scenic route courtesy of the USPS

Got some axles and a Piranha from SCC, waiting on some wheels from Brian at BRS. The motor is to upgrade one of my RMS Trans Am cars (resin weighs a bit more) and the wheels are for another long term project. (Thanks to Labor Day my paycheck was a little fatter so I could splurge).

I'll be working this weekend so ya'll have some fun for me.

As much as I would like to get some new slot cars I had better hold off after sending a not to the USPS about their service. I sent a package to TSGTRET Dave in Indiana from California and the package is really going south. It went from West Sacramento, CA to Dallas, TX and now is in Austin, TX. I asked the USPS if it would help if I tape a map onto the next package I send so that they will know where it is going. Anyway hopefully I will have a good weekend of builds this weekend and get a good chassis printed for the RMS Corvair. I tried to get fancy with it and whenever I take off the support material I break off either some suspension part, roll bar, or steering wheel. Oh well, that is what makes this hobby so much fun. Have a safe and happy weekend! :)

Working today, trip to the dentist thrown in for extra fun.

#1 Daughter came home to visit this weekend - forgot to change the locks ;) so we'll be visiting. My dad is back in the hospital and hopes to leave today. He came down with pneumonia after having 4 really good days after his last chemo. Absolutely crazy how this all works. So I spent a chunk there yesterday and will again today if he doesn't get out.

On a happier note - going out with a Jeep buddy to look at fall colors in the high country on Sunday. Weston Pass, Brown's Pass, and Breakneck pass are the routes we are doing. Nothing rated more than a 3 and Weston is really a nice 2. Should be a good day for a beautiful drive.

My eldest daughter left yesterday after a 5 day visit. We leave early tomorrow morning to drive the 175 miles to Oakland where we will meet our youngest daughter for breakfast before she attends a wedding and then flies back home to Chicago. After breakfast we head down to Palo Alto to see my wife's aging parents. I will be helping them with some minor repairs on their house.

On the slot car front, a new Scaley Modern day Camaro showed up in yesterday's mail. It is the Baufeld/ Boss car It is part of a modern Trans Am series that I am putting together for my SSD track. My previous modern Camaro (the Stephenson car) is well under way in her transition from mild GT3 car to a lower, fatter Trans Am 2 class Camaro. I am also getting my SSD track ready for final paint which hopefully should come some time next week.

School started this week,so that took a bite out of my time. Well worth it though. Planning on getting some wiring done on the track and working on my Saturday Night Short Track cars. Had to to and pick-up my new machinist tools for school. They should come in handy for slot car builds.
