just getting into this hobby and after research and reading these forums have decided to go with a carrera track setup. But I am a little confused about how analog cars can be made to run on digital tracks however. I am going with digital carrera. My question is can I use some type of chip to use on non carrera analog cars and have them run on my digital track? I have seen where it appears to be pretty easy to "chip" a non-scalextric analog car with a scalextric "chip". Does the same hold true for carrera. Can you take other manufacturers analog cars and put a digital carrera chip in them? I hope all this makes sense. I look forward to your replies. Thanks - Tom

Having chipped many non Carrera cars it is not as easy as chipping a Carrera car. Carrera chips are much larger than every other mfg. chip out there and sometimes it is very difficult getting them to fit in the car. More times than not you have to modify the interior to get them to fit. I've had very few where it didn't take some modifying somewhere.

Welcome! Only Carrera chipped cars will work on a Carrera track, we have several.. (lots).. brand cars that have been chipped using the 'ol D132 chip. It's not a bad job on some cars, others can be a little more work. You have to grind the interior out some or just remove it all then drill a hole in the bottom of the chassis for the exciter bulb to work on lane changers etc. Get that dremmel tool out & Have some fun!
