It was way back last May when I asked around for ideas for the next bodyshell, and there were lots of votes for the '72 Charger. I thought of this look


But Harry thought of this look




I got a 3D file and started work, chopping the useless bits out and adapting it to fit my chassis.


I also put in body posts so you can fit a chassis from the Pioneer Dodge Charger, just in case you want to race it.

I got a 3D printed master made, although when the file was created it messed up the radiator grill


So I had to remake that part. The trouble came when I made the silicone mold and some of the rubber got behind the mesh, pulling it off the car and destroying the mold. I had to remake the mesh and use enough paint to seal it to the car but not so much that it lost the detail.


Here's the first resin body from the mold


Then I got the windows vacformed and made up some resin wheel inserts from one of the race car pictures above. The vacform interior tray from one of my existing cars fits which is useful. At last, here's how it looks.



Here you can see the body posts in the corners for the Pioneer chassis, and the central ones for the chase-cars chassis




The race car graphics look quite complex so as they're already available I haven't designed them, it would take me even longer!

Impressive design/build/execution. That's a very nice body. So, what livery are you going to use?

For my own use I'll just paint it a solid colour, I really like the satin black like the first picture.

I'm not sure what to do for race car graphics; they're very large so I would only get about 3 cars to a sheet which makes them expensive and they're already available from Pattos.
