Interesting comparison Alwyn.
I prefer like for like, as stock as possible with the same voltage to discern a true comparison. I'm a big fan of both actually.
I know a former club member here who had a Fly GT40 that was wicked fast...bone stock. I've never had luck getting any of my Fly GT40's anywhere close. Conversely, my stock Slot.it GT40 (dark blue Andretti livery) is my fastest LM Classic and loves to bully NSRs for their lunch money.
But I've tuned some stock Fly's, like the Porsche 906 and 908/3 they are only 1-2 tenths behind (5.7-5.8) that Slot.it GT40 (5.5-5.6) on a 53' track.
Those Fly cars are smoother to drive / control with their lower torque motors and would be right there vs some of the top proxy competition we've hosted - all running at 10v across the board.
I'm staring at a long tail 917 I think I'll tune next, just urethanes, a solid front axle and the usual minor basic tuning for a Fly a la Harry's articles....yep, should be good!
Cheers, eh!
