Not my style really, but what a wild beast.

I have heard they are tons of fun. Anyone doing battle with them care to comment?

I imagine that sourcing after-market tires is a bit of a chore.

I've only run the trucks from a few years ago on my SCX dirt track. They are a blast. When I get a minute I plan to run this one too.

I picked up one of these from Bruce, but haven't had a chance to get it to the track yet.
Looking at it on the table though, it got my thoughts spinning on a transport / heavy wrecker build...
(Now just to noodle that idea out a little more and see if those big wheels/tires are readily available separately!)

It's been a long while since I posted anything but felt the need to after buying one of these. I have all of the original Dakar trucks and run them regularly. I saw this and thought it would be a nice addition. So far, I feel like I just bought a POLISTIL. I first noticed that unlike the first gen, this one only has 1 motor and uses band drive. So I lube it up and place it on the track. As soon as I pull the trigger, it moves 1/4 inch and stops. Look at it and the rear band is bound up. So now I check all the pulleys and find they are loose. As I tighten them, two wheels fall off. Seriously, they fell off as I was handling it. Also tightened screws holding the motor in.

Put it back on the track and it is just too slow for me. My old trucks walk it like it's in reverse. I'm running stock Carrara controllers with a 12amp 12volt supply.

Look at it again and find the crown gear is jammed against the pinion. I try to move it but there are two washers which keep it pressed against the gear. Pull out axle and remove one of the small brass washers. Rear axle now spins easily. Back on track, much better but still slow. I removed the front drive bands and its better. Removed the rear bands and truck just spins its tires. Seems the rear shocks put so much pressure they lift the other axle off the track. I then removed the rear springs (will try softer ones later) from the shocks and tried again. Now I have a two wheel truck that scoots around my track. Next is to reconnect the drive belts and try more fiddling. Maybe I just got a lemon but this truck really had\has a lot of flaws.
