So compared to, the SRC, I'm guessing Bob this outperforms the SRC version and well worth the effort.

It completely outclasses the SRC chassis.

I won one of those as a proxy prize, and just after I got it I heard their dies had broken and they weren't making any more. I decided to keep it NIB but later when it became clear they were making more, I opened it. Although a beautiful car to look at, it was a dog on the track. The plastic wheels were so out of round it thumped around the track even after my attempts to true the tires. Finally I gave up and made a brass chassis. I made inserts from the beautiful but wonky wheels, and it is now a very fast car. The weight of the chassis keeps it well planted and a Piranha motor moves it along smartly.
Cheers,
Keith

Oddly, mine had a pretty good set of wheels but I went with the sideways set anyway.
